CeramTec optimizes production and quality management processes with mpmX

CeramTec is an international manufacturer of advanced and technical ceramic solutions. Its products are used in many industries, including medical technology, automotive, electronics, and machinery. CeramTec leverages the special properties of ceramics, such as wear and heat resistance, to produce durable and precise components.

Why mpmX

In search of an agile analysis solution to achieve process transparency – over various manufacturing steps – in production and quality management, CeramTec chose to implement mpmX. Besides the associative engine and the high-performance In-Memory data management, the fulfilment of the following objectives was essential:

  • Flexible creation of relevant process key indicators
  • Analysis of actual processes for critical process sequences in interaction with reasons for scrap
  • Ad-hoc lead time analysis between all occurring production events
  • Simple self-service analyses based on governed data models, key figures for advanced questions and root cause analysis
  • Simple linking between CAQ / MES & SAP®-data

Results

  • Associative Process Mining makes production processes transparent (from customer order to production to packaging / shipping)
  • Full process transparency of the manufacturing processes across several manufacturing stages (Raw mixture > machining of blanks > hard machining)
  • Automatic calculation and evaluation of scrap / good parts and process times
  • Self-service analyses allow new questions to be answered without IT assistance
